Synopsis
Naskah Skripsi yang Bercerita: Menjelajahi Dunia Kualitatif dan Kuantitatif disusun untuk menjawab kebutuhan yang sering luput dalam proses akademik, yaitu kemampuan merancang penelitian yang sahih sekaligus menyampaikan gagasan secara bernas, terstruktur, dan mudah diikuti pembaca. Di banyak ruang bimbingan, kendala utama mahasiswa bukan semata kurangnya data atau teori, melainkan kegagalan menautkan pertanyaan riset, pilihan metode, dan cara menulis menjadi satu alur argumentasi yang utuh. Bagian inilah yang ingin dituntun buku ini sejak halaman awal.
Kerangka buku ini berpijak pada prinsip desain penelitian yang menuntut keselarasan antara masalah, pertanyaan, paradigma, teknik pengumpulan data, serta rencana analisis. Tradisi metodologi modern menekankan bahwa pemilihan pendekatan kualitatif, kuantitatif, atau campuran tidak boleh ditentukan oleh kebiasaan kelas atau keterbatasan alat, melainkan oleh logika pertanyaan dan kontribusi yang hendak dicapai. Perspektif ini sejalan dengan penjelasan Creswell dan Creswell mengenai desain riset yang menempatkan kesesuaian metode sebagai fondasi validitas dan keterandalan karya ilmiah.
Di sisi lain, buku ini juga memandang penulisan ilmiah sebagai kerja retorika yang bertanggung jawab. Prosa akademik tidak harus kering, namun harus disiplin, jernih, dan dapat ditelusuri. Gagasan yang kuat layak disampaikan dengan bahasa yang tertata, karena keterbacaan adalah bagian dari kualitas argumentasi. Gagasan Helen Sword tentang pentingnya ekspresi akademik yang elegan memperkuat keyakinan bahwa ketepatan ilmiah dapat berjalan bersama kejelasan narasi, tanpa mengorbankan ketelitian.
Kekuatan skripsi juga ditentukan oleh cara penulis memperlakukan data dan etika publikasi. Integritas akademik bukan sekadar urusan angka kemiripan, melainkan ketepatan sitasi, kejujuran pelaporan, dan kesadaran atas batas temuan. COPE menegaskan bahwa dugaan plagiarisme dan pelanggaran etika ditangani melalui prosedur yang ketat, karena reputasi ilmiah dibangun oleh keterlacakan sumber dan akuntabilitas proses. Karena itu, buku ini menempatkan disiplin rujukan, transparansi metode, serta etika pengelolaan data sebagai kebiasaan kerja, bukan aksesori di bagian akhir naskah.
Pada ranah kualitatif, pembaca diajak memahami bagaimana temuan lahir dari proses analisis yang memiliki jejak keputusan. Praktik analisis tematik, misalnya, menekankan pentingnya pengembangan tema yang refleksif dan dapat dipertanggungjawabkan melalui pembacaan berulang, pengodean yang konsisten, serta penulisan hasil yang menautkan bukti dan interpretasi secara wajar. Penjelasan Braun dan Clarke tentang thematic analysis memberi landasan kuat untuk melihat analisis sebagai kerja sistematis yang tetap peka pada konteks, bukan sekadar rangkuman kutipan.
Akhirnya, kami berharap buku ini menjadi pendamping yang menenangkan sekaligus menantang. Menenangkan, karena ia menyediakan peta langkah yang masuk akal dari merumuskan masalah hingga menyunting naskah. Menantang, karena ia mendorong pembaca mengambil posisi ilmiah yang dewasa, berani menyatidakan alasan metodologis, berani mengakui keterbatasan, dan berani menulis dengan akurasi yang dapat diuji. Bila skripsi adalah latihan memasuki komunitas ilmiah, maka latihan terbaik adalah yang membiasakan ketertiban berpikir, ketelitian teknis, dan kejujuran akademik sejak awal.
